Welcome to our Cotswolds holiday cottage
No.1 The Square is a three bedroomed Grade II listed Cotswolds holiday cottage, just three miles from the beautiful market town of Stow on the Wold, in the peaceful village of Upper Slaughter. The cottage provides self catering holiday accommodation for up to six persons and is a wonderful base from which to explore the Cotswolds, being close to the historic market towns of Stow on the Wold, Bourton on the Water, Moreton in Marsh, Broadway and Burford.
The holiday cottage is fitted with all modern appliances, yet maintains its Cotswolds charm. Originally a paupers cottage dating back to at least the early 19th century, it (and the rest of The Square at Upper Slaughter) were remodelled in 1906 by the renowned architect Sir Edwin Lutyens. More recently, the cottage has been updated to provide self catering holiday accommodation, but much emphasis has been placed on maintaining the integrity of the building. The result is a magical mix of old and new, modern yet historic; indeed, everything you would hope for from a self catering cottage in the Cotswolds.
Access to the holiday cottage is through a small wooden gate which leads into The Square, with No. 1, the largest of all the properties that make up The Square, holding a dominant position on the right.
The cottage retains many original features and has been painted in muted colours throughout in order to retain it’s feeling of calm and relaxation.
Outside is a courtyard with outdoor seating and a BBQ. There is also a small lawned garden.
